Last DFI: Revision and EXAM
Last Day and the Exam (or not)
This year during lockdown we have all led ubiquitous learning: available anytime-anywhere-from anyone. The accessibility of rewindable learning has been valuable in my personal life-Nadia Lim cooking show during lockdown- it has been valuable for the children who engaged in this. It meant that whanau could access it at a time when suited the whanau- not necessarily between 9-3.
So looking back at 2020 so far in terms of ubiquitous learning..
What am I proud of?
Being able to quickly work out how to set up and run a google meet with the whanau. This was cool and from parent feedback Google Meets were what our children really engaged with and looked forward to. The face to face connecting with their friends and teachers.
What do you regret?
At the time... nothing as I didn't know what I didn't know.. as far as I was concerned we were a little step further than the school sending out photocopied papers( but if they didn't have access to a device then were we?). Removing the barriers for our children I thought that this was keeping stuff safe.. but from who?
What have you taken forward into the 'new' era of schooling?
I think I could contribute to and set up a learning site for our learners. I would not be so scared to do this and need to remember "dressing the shop window" to entice learners to want to even visit our site.
And now... THE EXAM WELL.. I couldn't do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was all set up to go and even Mark and Steph couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work for me. So everyone around me got on and finished the exam. I felt like such a dick sitting there, I had all the confirmation emails, receipts of payment and had completed all the other steps everyone else had, but to no avail!
I will try again on Friday.
I have really enjoyed doing this course WITH people around me. It has helped to have people to ask for help and to moan and groan with as we faced difficulties on our journey. I fell like I have learnt heaps and looking back I realise just how much stuff I have under my belt now. If we went into lockdown I feel in a way better position to provide a choice of online learning.
So cheers to everyone on our course the facilitators, colleagues and people on meets for opening the door for me- where before it was a wee bit jammed.

Kia ora Lisa,
ReplyDeleteIt was a real shame that your exam was uncooperative yesterday. I have really enjoyed your participation in the DFI and have seen a real growth in your confidence and digital fluency and i am learning lots working alongside you in the studio.
Nga mihi,
Mark
